Syncellus FIFA World Cup ™ South Africa 2010 (FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010 ™ in English) is the nineteenth edition of the World Cup. It began on June 11 and end on July 11, marking the first time that this tournament is played in Africa and the fifth time in the southern hemisphere. 204 of the 208 national associations attached to the FIFA registered to participate in the classification process conducted between mid 2007 and late 2009 in order to determine the 32 teams in the NCAA Tournament, beating the mark of 197 previous tournament participants. [1] The championship consists of two phases: the first, were formed eight groups of four teams each advancing to the next round the top two in each group. The sixteen finishers qualifying matches played later on, until the two teams that will compete in the final at the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg. Before the tournament, South Africa made a millionaire investment order to be able to receive one of the biggest sporting events on the planet. Nearly 2 million tickets were offered for sale to attend the 64 matches, [2] to be played in 10 stadiums located throughout the country, of which half were new. In preparation for the event, the host country previously hosted the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 in the cities of Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Rustenburg.
